21st Century Border Initiative Webinar: The Government's Border Plan Is Working
Recently Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano gave a major speech on Border Security, in her speech the Secretary emphatically stated that the border is safer now then it has ever been.
Despite this there is still a pervasive national narrative, that the border is out of control. Not only is this a patently false statement, but it completely ignores all of the positive steps that have been taken by the government to create a safer border.
NDN hosted a webinar on February 25th, 2011 at 2:00 pm ET presenting statistics showing how the government has been making the border a safer place.
By presenting these border statistics in a clear way, NDN hoped to facilitate a conversation about border security, and also discuss how the border is a positive place for commerce and the economy as a whole.
Additionally this webinar explored what the governments strategy on the Border means for comprehensive immigration reform in the future. Border Security has long been a component of a comprehensive plan to reform our broken immigration system. This webinar contextualized how the governments actions along border may move a legislative overhaul of our immigration system forward.
