They suggest that what we need is “more government when it comes to setting great goals and investing to achieve them; less government when it comes to how we collectively meet those goals.”

Eric Liu and Nick Hanauer will be joined by Michael Lind of the New America Foundation, Megan McArdle of The Atlantic, and moderator EJ Dionne of The Washington Post.

NDN: 729 15th St, NW, First Floor

NDN will host Shraga Biran and Garrett Graff for an important discussion about creating a transformative blueprint for the 21st century economy.  More than natural resources, an impressive portfolio, or prime real estate, innovation, entrepreneurship and opportunity are today’s currency; physical assets are trumped by social and intellectual capital.  Though ideas now drive the global economy, our outdated regulatory systems have barely changed.  In his provocative new book, Opportunism: How to Change the World One Idea at a Time, Biran challenges government and the private sector to protect and properly value the creative class, the originators of a new wealth, and to extend to all individuals the rights and stability necessary to own whatever opportunities they create as private property.  For more on this event click here.

This Friday Michael Moynihan to Present at Columbia University Smart Grid Conference

On Friday, December 3, NDN's Green Project Director, Michael Moynihan will be presenting on Electricity 2.0 at Columbia University's Broadband Networks and Smart Grids at the Crossroad between ICT and Energy Conference.

The term smart grid refers to the layering of a communications and ICT system on top of the existing power grid. This layering, through the use of broadband networks, sensors, smart meters and software would lead to a two-way flow of electricity and information to create an automated, widely distributed energy delivered network. The aim of this new intelligent network will be to optimally route energy, lower bills, and reduce greenhouse emissions.

Michael Moynihan will be joined at the conference by Reed Hundt, Nick Sinai of the FCC and Professor Eli Noam. To learn more or to attend this conference, please visit CITI's website by clicking here.
