To honor the thousands of people marching in Washington today for comprehensive immigration reform, NDN is re-releasing its powerful song, "Vela Vela."  The song will be airing, as an advertisment, on two very popular Spanish-language radio stations in Washington over the next few days, El Zol and Radio America.

To listen or download the song click the links to the right.  The song extols Republicans in Washington to "stop playing games" with immigration.  The full text of the ad is below.

For more than a year NDN and its community have been working with leaders of both parties to pass comprehensive immigration reform.   For more on NDN's work on immigration, visit www.ndn.org/immigration

"How Little They Know Us"

I would like to tell you a tale
that has too often been told.
About a people who throw the first stone
And then hide their hands.

It is the tale about those who passed
the anti-immigration laws,
the Congressional leadership
Of the Republican party.

They thought that we
would stay silent and not do a thing
How little they know us
When we are hurt, we respond

Thousands and thousands of us
Hailing from many lands
took to the streets
And made our voices heard

Now they quiver out of fear,
Those brave Republicans,
Looking to lay the blame on others
Insisting they have been misunderstood

Who are they kidding?
Show some dignity and respect!
They throw the first stone
And now they are hiding their hands?

So fly, fly little birdie,
Fly to the Congress
And tell those Republican leaders
It is time to stop playing games.

"Vuela Vuela"

Déjenme contarles señores
Un cuento ya muy contado
De aquellos que tiran la piedra
Y luego esconden la mano.

Es el cuento de quienes pasaron
Las leyes anti inmigrantes
Lideres Congresistas
Del partido republicano.

Supusieron que nosotros
Ibamos a quedarnos callados.
Pero qué mal nos conocen,
Si nos tocan, reaccionamos.

Miles y miles de personas
Provenientes de todos lados
En masa tomamos las calles
Y nos manifestamos.

Ahora tiemblan de miedo,
Los valientes republicanos.
Le echan la culpa a otros,
Dicen que los malintrepretamos.

¿A quién le toman el pelo?
Más dignidad y respeto.
¿Primero tiran la piedra
y ahora esconden la mano?

Vuela, vuela palomita,
Vuela ya para el congreso
Y dile a los lideres republicanos
Que se dejen ya de juegos.
