LAPI Event on Colombia

Tuesday, July 22
9:30  - 11:00 a.m.

Event Summary:

NDN launched the Latin American Policy Initiative (LAPI) earlier this year to provide policy makers and stakeholders an opportunity to discuss relations between the United States and the various countries in Latin America. The purpose of the series is to focus on a different country each month, and work to establish an ongoing dialogue to better inform those interested in Latin American policy.

We were proud to continue this Initiative by focusing on Colombia. While we had scheduled the forum before the dramatic events that have occurred recently in the country, we were excited to have the Hon. Carolina Barco, Ambassador of Colombia to the U.S., join us for a timely discussion on issues of importance to Colombia.

There was a 45-minute panel followed by a 30-minute Q&A session.

In April, NDN held its first Latin American Policy Initiative briefing with Sen. Bob Menendez (NJ) and the Ambassador of Mexico, Arturo Sarukhan to discuss Mexico and U.S. bilateral relations. Last month, NDN held a briefing with the Ambassador of Ecuador, Luis Gallegos. You can access video, photographs, and the transcript of NDN’s forum on Mexico or the forum on Ecuador through these links.
