Vali Nasr is a senior fellow for Middle East studies at the Council on Foreign Relations and professor at the Naval Postgraduate School and Stanford University , as well as a Senior Fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government.  He is a specialist on political Islam and has worked extensively on political and social developments in the Muslim world.

"Vali Nasr has had a profound impact on my thinking.  His knowledge of the Middle East is extraordinary, his insight fresh, his vision I think correct.  His book, The Shia Revival, is one of the most influential books I've read in recent years, and has helped me, more than any other thing I've read, understand what is happening in the Middle East today.
